Tasty Nigeria meals to try when you visit

Most tourist or fist time visitor to a particular place, will always want to explore their new environment and meal. The old time adage says: when in “Rome (do as the Romans do)” a proverb that you say to mean that when you are visiting another country, you should behave like the people in that country.

Nigeria which is a western Africa country, is known for her divers rich culture and healthy delicacy with abundant vitamin.

Any time  you visit Nigeria, ensure you try any of these mind blowing tasty meals.



  1. Amala and Ewedu soup

This meal is made from two popular flour (yam or plantain), and Ewedu is made from Ewedu (Jute) leaves.This are popular yoruba delicacy, (Amala and Ewedu soup) is one of Nigeria’s very popular delacy that is regularly consumed within the Yoruba community and other parts of Nigeria.  Pounded Yam and Ogbono

pounded yam is made from mashed boiled yam and ogbono soup from ogbono seed (Irving).

This is a common meal in most homes in Nigeria and it is popular served at various  occasions.


3. Eba and Egusi soup

Eba, is made from cassava flour and Egusi soup from melon seed

Eba, to many, is the most affordable and fasted meal to prepare. it is made from cassava flour.

4. Tuwo and Miyan  Kuka

The Tuwo is made from maize flour and the soup from the popular kaka leafs in the northern part of Nigeria.Tuwo and Miyan Kuka is popular eaten by the Northerners in Nigeria.

5. Fufu and Oha SoupThis delicacy  Fufu, is made from cassava.

Fufu is a native food of the eastern Nigeria, while Ora (Oha) soup is native to the South Eastern Nigeria. The taste, ” ever to remember” this makes consumers demand high on it, in most of our local restaurant.

6. Akara wit Pap

Akara is made from beans flour and the pap can be made from maize, guineacorn and some other form of grains.

This tasty delicacy is eaten by all part of Nigeria as major tribes claims it originated from them.


7. Nigeri Moi-Moi

Moi-Moi is made from beans flour

This delicacy is consumed by all tribe because of it richness in protein.


1. Afang soup

The soup is made from Water leaves and the wild herbal Okazi leaves.

2. Edikang Ikong

is made from Spinach/fluted Pumpkin leaves(Ugwu).

3. Okro soup

The soup is made from Okra fruit.

4. Bitter leaf soup

favourite bitter leaf  soup is made with bitter leafs (Fresh or Tried ).

5. Oha

Ora soup is made with the leafs of a tree called oha leafs.

6. Banga soup

The soup is made with Palm Fruits.

7. Abak atama soup

The soup is made with Palm Fruit Concentrate (Abak) and Atama Leaves.
